More details

£292.50

The course is level 4 and carries 9 learning credits which can be used towards further learning at Colleges.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is recommended by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) for the treatment of many mental health conditions. It is therefore one of the most commonly used therapies in the private and statutory sectors. CBT is based on the theory that it's not events themselves that upset us, but the meanings we attach to them.

This course is useful for those who may be working in the statutory or voluntary sectors with those who have mental health issues. Nurses, counsellors, prison officers, probation workers, psychotherapists and other mental health workers may find this course invaluable for useful skills and therapeutic interventions.

HSC Training strongly advises you to join the Counselling Society as they are the most forward thinking Counselling organisation in the UK.

Membership of the Counselling Society

They run a unique point based system which allows for the assessment of the personal qualities of candidates for membership.

They also allow you direct part of the accreditation process by providing the Society with additional information, experience outside of standard elements but which you feel deserve to be included. We call this Personal Qualities Element (PQE).

The Counselling Society offers only one grade of membership - Accredited membership (MCS Acc). To become an Accredited Member, you will need to be awarded 100 points from an overall framework of measures. Each applicant will also be examined closely for a balance of items and an overall understanding that you are safe, competent, and ethically equipped to practise.

You will notice from the table below that maximum limits are set on all assessment elements. That’s because, again, they feel that accreditation shouldn’t just be about quantity of work done. For example, 200 placement hours done badly for accreditation purposes are not as valuable to a counsellor (or their clients) as 50 hours done well.
